FASHION students from GCU have helped stage one of the industry’s major annual events.
Catwalk stars, designers, and celebrities packed Glasgow Science Centre for The Scottish Fashion Awards 2010 on Sunday night.
Students from GCU’s Fashion Business, International Fashion Brand Marketing, and MSc International Fashion Marketing courses gained invaluable experience by acting as runners at the glittering bash.
The University was also featured in a special section in the event's official programme.
Winners included Scots singer Paolo Nutini, who was named Style Icon of the Year, textile designer Jonathan Saunders, who picked up Scots Designer of the Year, and hair stylist Malcolm Edward, who was inducted into the 2010 Hall of Fame.
Professor Christopher Moore, Vice-Dean of Caledonian Business School, said: “The evening provided our students with an excellent opportunity to experience first-hand the complexities and demands associated with staging such a high-profile and important event within the fashion industry.”
Glasgow Caledonian University was an official partner of the event, which was sponsored by Vogue.com.
The exclusive panel of judges included Brian Duffy, President of Ralph Lauren Europe, Nathalie Colin, Creative Director of Swarovski, Paris, and Brigitte Stepputis, Head of Couture at Vivienne Westwood.
GCU will build on its international reputation for fashion in September, with the launch the UK’s first MBA in Luxury Brand Marketing, at our new graduate university college GCU London, in Spitalfields.
