MSc Public Health

Course overview

The World Health Organisation’s 2010 World Health Report
demonstrated that health inequalities remain a significant
challenge at local, national and international levels. They
further recognised the need to support and educate the
public health workforce in order to meet these ongoing
challenges. A particular strength of the MSc Public Health
programme at GCU is that the curriculum and associated
activities actively develop the skills and knowledge of
students to enable them to apply public health theory in
a social action context at local, national and international
levels. This also supports the GCU Mission which advocates
that the university should enable graduates to make a
positive contribution to society. The programme at GCU is
also distinctive in that members of the wider programme
team are active contributors to world class public health
research and have established close working relationships
with local and international communities.
